Spring calls for a rebirth of new and old. It calls for the embrace of new music as well as a resurgence of cherished genres from the past. As a lifelong R&B lover, I’ve gravitated towards R&B increasingly in this season. Spring also comes with change, and with graduation creeping up, it’s easy to overthink, feel overwhelmed, or panic. I’ve been feeling very nostalgic and this return to R&B feels like a home base for me. It’s one of the rocks keeping me grounded during this ever changing period.
There’s something about spring—how it makes everything feel a little lighter, a little more possible. It’s a season that nudges us to open the windows, both literally and emotionally, and let something new in. It’s the perfect time to revisit the music that shaped you, soothed you, or made you feel seen—and to explore sounds you haven’t yet met. Whether you're returning to the songs that raised you or discovering something that sparks joy in the present, let music be part of your spring reset.
I’ve been an active visitor of R&B Weekly recently, and have added many songs to my R&B on-repeat playlist. My spring 2025 R&B playlist is linked below!
So as the flowers bloom and the future inches closer, I’m letting the rhythm carry me through the change. Whether it’s an old favorite that feels like a warm hug or a new find that jolts something awake in me, music reminds me I’m still here—still evolving. Here’s to letting the soundtrack of spring be whatever you need it to be: grounding, energizing, nostalgic, or totally new. One track at a time, we move forward.
I love this Kate. I agree that R&B always makes me feel like I’m coming home 🩷
